Brief Description:  Flight #11, Flt test #6, Airspeed accuracy, 51 min

Adjusted the left aileron up two turns to reduce the right "heavy" wing. Seems pretty close to hands off straight now.

I had the Pitch-Trim set to give about 50-50 up/down in the neutral position. With max up on final approach, I still needed to hold some back pressure to maintain the slow airspeed. I adjusted the Pitch-Trim for 25% down travel and 75% up travel. Seems a better setup now.

Was an overcast day so no real thermal bumps. KPYM was 230/08, 29.97", 23c, DA 1100'.

Climbed to 3000' indicated, about 4000' DA, and used the autopilot alt/heading holds to run lines for the airspeed indicator calibrations at 2800, 3000, 3200 and 3400 rpm, recording OAT, IAS, GPS track, and GPS speed. To analyze the data I downloaded "Using GPS to Determmine Pitot-Static Errors" at www.ntps.edu/information/downloads.html.

Results at 17.7c, 3000'msl (4000' DA) were:
RPM IAS(mph) TAS(mph) GPS/wind corr. TAS
2800 100 106 105.4
3000 110 117 116.1
3200 118 125 128.8
3400 127 135 137.2

So in general, within my flight control precision, the AS indicator needs little correction.

Fuel consumption for the :51 tach time was 3.0 gallons. TGW 851#

The engine is at 10 tach hours so I changed the oil at the end of the flight and sent a sample in for analysis. Also time to check the head torque after 10 hours of running.

The Bendix-King AV8OR has not been generating a KML file the last few flights, just a text file. Haven't figured out why, so no nice Google-Earth shots to post. I downloaded "CloudAhoy" and will try that with my iPad1 and a Dual XGPS150A.
